The year is 1922. Machinist, manager, and entrepreneur Walter Chrysler becomes president of the Maxwell Motor Co. It's here that the Chrysler story begins.
That year, his engineers would design what would become the first Chrysler vehicle. Soon after, it appeared at Maxwell dealerships. Skip ahead to 1925, and he would reorganize both the company and his Chrysler Corporation, and an automotive legacy would be born.
Since then, and over the years, the Chrysler brand name would have many parents -- in 1998, DaimlerChrysler; Chrysler LLC in 2007; in 2009, the Chrysler Group LLC; and in 2014, FCA US LLC. Along the way, it's made industry history as well -- building Sherman and Pershing tanks for the US military during World War II, for instance. It also pioneered the quintessentially American muscle car, beginning in 1955 with the Chrysler C-300.
Today, the marque is part of Stellantis, one of the US "Big Three" automakers. It's a manufacturer known worldwide for a lineup of exceptional quality -- luxury sedans like the Chrysler 300, family minivans such as the Chrysler Pacifica, Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, and Chrysler Voyager, and more.
