The Chrysler brand of automobiles has a long history dating back to the 1920’s. Walter Chrysler launched the Chrysler 70 in 1924 and featured a variety of innovations, including the first mass-produced four-wheel hydraulic brakes. The brand also developed a wheel that had a ridged rim, which was helpful in preventing flat tires from coming off the wheel entirely. During the late 1920’s, Chrysler Corporation started to divide the vehicle offerings by price class and function. There was the Plymouth brand which was at the low-end, the DeSoto brand in the middle, and the Imperial that represented the top models. Moving into the 2000s, the company had three marques, which included Dodge, Jeep, and Chrysler. In 2009, the Ram brand was established as well. Later that year, Fiat gained ownership of the group. Chrysler Group LLC announced a name change to FCA US LLC in 2014.
