Factory MOPAR Spoilers & Wings
Install Spoilers & Wings DIY, the Easy Way
There are lots of ways to make your ride more aerodynamic while giving it a more stylish look. One of the best ways is to put on a spoiler or wing. You can do this for just about any body style, too: for a sports car like Dodge Charger or Challenger, an SUV like Jeep Compass, a truck such as Jeep Gladiator or RAM 1500, or even a van like Chrysler Town & Country or Dodge Grand Caravan. It's a pretty straightforward job, too, whether on a trunk or roof, a bed or tailgate, or on a hood.
Here's how to do it; we'll use no-drill (adhesive) spoilers as an example. The whole thing shouldn't take too long, and as a do-it-yourselfer, you'll save money not paying a dealer. We've got your replacement, too -- genuine Mopar, guaranteed to fit, and usually, even cheaper than MSRP. Of course, if you'd prefer the pros at a service center to take care of it, that's always a good idea. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions; we'll be glad to help.
For this, you'll probably need paint prep like isopropyl alcohol, some cleaning cloths, a tape measure, some masking Tape, and sealing caulk -- silicone-based. This kind of install shouldn't be done in the cold -- temps in the 70s Fahrenheit are ideal.
- Wash your trunk lid with soap and water and dry it, then use the alcohol or paint prep to get rid of any remaining grease, wax, or other residue on the lid.
- If you need to put the tape on the spoiler (manufacturer directions should tell you one way or the other), do so, but leave the layer protecting the sticky part on. You might have to put silicone adhesive on now, too; again, check instructions on that.
- Put the spoiler where it's going to go on the trunk. Use the tape measure to make sure both sides of it are even, and then use the masking tape as a guide for where it'll go (but don't tape it down; it's to remind you where the spoiler's going).
- Peel about an inch of each piece of tape on the spoiler away, and put the spoiler back on the trunk where you used the masking tape as a guide. Pull away the rest of the tape without moving the spoiler.
- Once all the tape's off, put firm and even pressure on the spoiler, making sure the whole thing's flush against the trunk. Take off the masking tape guide.
- Let the adhesive set for about 12 hours: no washing, waxing, or driving.
Note: if your spoiler's got a brake light, you might need to drill a hole for its wiring. Double-check OEM instructions on what to do.
